The Blancpain Boutique in New York currently hosts an exhibition featuring the creation and evolution of the Fifty Fathoms collection, which celebrates its 65th Anniversary this year.
During the month of October, the boutique is showcasing a selection of vintage timepieces, starting with the 1953 original Fifty Fathoms' model, the world's first modern diving watch, whose characteristics have played a decisive role for the entire watchmaking industry. In viewing the exhibition, visitors are given the opportunity to discover watches from different time periods, that have served as essential pieces of equipment for the French Navy’s combat swimmers corps as well as other naval forces around the world. Rarely made available to the public, patents and archives are displayed to outline the various innovations that marked the collection, whether in terms of functionalities, designs or the materials used.
A supplemental section of the exhibition highlights the Blancpain Ocean Commitment program, which encompasses all the initiatives undertaken by the brand in favor of the oceans' exploration and protection over the past 15 years. In particular, a series of underwater photographs invites the visitors to delve into the universe of the four Gombessa expeditions and the scientific findings of our partner Laurent Ballesta.
This special exhibition is on display at the Blancpain Boutique in New York, 697 Fifth Avenue, 10022 NY, until October 26th 2018.
