"As an underwater photographer I have documented unique, never before seen marine behaviour."

"Swimming along orcas during their hunt for pelagic rays in the Sea of Cortez, lurking amongst crocodiles and anacondas and freediving with great white sharks in the waters of Guadalupe Island are only some of the fascinating animal encounters I captured with my lens."

About the photographer

Even when I was still too young to dive, I was already thrilled with the underwater realm. My fascination with wildlife started when I was very young. I indulged in nature documentaries and countless editions of National Geographic. My passion for the ocean was unleashed when I was involved in some major tournaments organized by my grandfather’s sport fishing company. Although I never was into fishing, I accompanied the fishermen on their boats and could easily identify the species they caught. I started diving in the early 2000s as a teenager. Since then I have been sharing my love for the ocean and its creatures by means of my photography and expeditions. Today I am an underwater photographer, award-winning film producer and eco-tourism activist.

I was involved with the non-profit organization Pelagic Life where I worked hand in hand with fishing communities in Baja California to develop open ocean tourism as an alternative to fishing tourism. In course of this commitment I produced the award-winning documentary film Mexico Pelágico.

Later, as the founder and early CEO of Pelagic Fleet I envisioned, designed and spearheaded the refit of the Socorro Vortex, a 45-meter diving yacht and one of the sturdiest and most ambitious luxury liveaboards out there. As an underwater photographer I documented unique, never before seen behavior. Swimming along orcas during their hunt for pelagic rays in the Sea of Cortez, lurking amongst crocodiles and anacondas and freediving with great white sharks in the waters of Guadalupe Island are only some of the fascinating animal encounters I captured with my lens.

My work has been featured by National Geographic, Wired and Ocean Geographic and in Apple and Samsung campaigns, among many others. I am an ambassador for Discovery, Nauticam and The Outdoor Journal and am a two-times TEDx speaker. My recent projects include the adventure travel company Baja My Love and The Hydrophone, a podcast in which I interview high-profile marine conservationists, photographers, filmmakers and explorers.
